By: Hasina Fazli

A comprehensive list of resources and services needed by newly arrived Afghan immigrants in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area—mainly including the cities of Fremont, Hayward, Newark, Concord, and Oakland — has been compiled and published by the Bay Area Newcomer Resource Organization.

This resource guide is available in Farsi, Pashto and English and includes information on:

  1. Halal restaurants and grocery stores
  2. Mosques and Islamic centers
  3. Organizations and institutions supporting immigrants
  4. Social services and local resources

These resources can help newly arrived immigrants connect with the local community and begin their new lives with greater awareness and confidence.
