We are aware that many individuals recently received a “Notice of Termination of Parole” from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which caused widespread concern and confusion across refugee and immigrant communities—particularly among Afghan parolees.

DHS has now issued a Retraction Notice dated April 11, 2025, stating that this termination notice was sent in error to the mails of many parole individuals. According to DHS, “no action will be taken with respect to your parole… the terms of your parole as originally issued remain unchanged at this time.”

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security sent this retraction email on April 11, 2025, to a number of Afghan migrants holding parole status.
