Afghan Poetry, Music, and Culture Night Held in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Afghan Poetry, Music, and Culture Night was held on December 29, 2024, in Sacramento, the capital of California. This monthly cultural event, organized by the Empowerment and Integration of Immigrants Organization, takes place on the last Saturday of each month, bringing together poets, writers, and cultural figures from the Afghan immigrant community in Sacramento.
Abdul Aziz Karimi, board member of the Empowerment and Integration of Immigrants Organization and one of the event’s organizers, highlighted the diverse programming of the event. The gathering featured live music performances, poetry recitations, literary contests, general knowledge quizzes, and discussions on topics such as education, social media, identity, personal development, housing, and academic opportunities. Karimi emphasized that these programs aim to preserve cultural heritage and strengthen the cultural identity of future generations of Afghan immigrants.
Beyond celebrating Afghan culture, Karimi stated that the event also serves as a platform for better integration of immigrants into their new society while fostering social cohesion among community members. He described the gathering as an opportunity for immigrants to showcase their talents and engage in meaningful discussions in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Karimi also pointed out that the importance of cultural events in boosting the morale of immigrants and fostering dialogue.
